  9. 1kx16.dll is the latest Orchid Pro IIs series 1024x768x16 IBM OS/2 2.0 Display
  10. driver.
  11.  
  12. Note: Before installing this display driver, the latest release of VSVGA.SYS,
  13. found in LIB 17 of the CIS IBMOS2 forum, should be installed. Furthermore,
  14. it is strongly recommended the system functionality be verified, using the
  15. standard IBM VGA display driver, before installing the Orchid display driver.

  18. To install 1kx16.dll:
  19.  
  20. Set card to display the 1024x768x16 resolution at a vertical
  21. refresh rate of 45Hz or 60Hz. (A version to support 1024x768x16 at 70Hz is
  22. being developed. It'll be uploaded as soon as its finished.)

  24. Boot the system.
  25.  
  26. If no picture or picture out of sync, reboot system using DOS disk.
  27. Change to the \OS2 subdirectory and run SVGA.EXE using the commandline
  28. parameter ON.

  32. This results in the creation, in the current subdirectory (\os2), of a video
  33. parameter file called SVGADATA.PMI. Please be sure this file exists before
  34. continuing.

  36. Create a subdirectory and copy 1kx16.dll into the subdirectory and rename it
  37. to display.dll.

  40. >cd orchid
  41. >copy /b a:1kx16.dll display.dll
  42.  
  43. Use a text editor and modify the LIBPATH statement in the OS/2 2.0 CONFIG.SYS
  44. to put the ORCHID subdirectory in the LIBPATH. It should be placed before any
  45. other LIBPATH entries.

  49.  LIBPATH=.;C:\123G;C:\OS2\DLL;C:\OS2\MDOS;C:\;C:\OS2\APPS\DLL;

  56. Reboot the system.

  59. Suggestions, hints, help & problem reporting:
  60. Upon rebooting, in some cases, some or all ICONs on the desktop or in a
  61. window may not be visible. Use the scroll bars at the right and bottom edges 
  62. of the window to bring the ICONs into view. Or, in a window, press the right
  63. mouse button, choose arrange by selecting it using the left mouse button.
  64. This action will bring the out of sight ICONs into view.

  66. Some application screens may not be completely visible. Press control-escape
  67. to bring up the task list window. Using the left mouse button, highlight the
  68. application name, then use the right mouse button to bring up a menu. From
  69. this menu select tile or cascade and the full screen of the application will
  70. then be visible.

  72. This effort is the first release of the driver. While every effort has been
  73. made to insure it is error free, no guanrantee is made that this is the
  74. case. As problems are found and fixed, which result in a later version of the
  75. driver, it will be uploaded here as soon as possible.

  77. If you wish to report a problem you may do so by generating a text file with
  78. all pertinent information:
  79.         System description
  80.         (CPU, BIOS version, systemboard memory, other installed hardware)
  81.  
  82.         ProDesigner II adapter description
  83.         (include BIOS version, hardware revision level, switch [ISA], 
  84.         configuration register [EISA], or POS settings [Micro Channel],
  85.         resolution of driver being used, dat & time stamp of driver)
  86.  
  87.         OS/2 configuration
  88.         (copy of CONFIG.SYS file)
  89.  
  90.         System or application software in use when problem symptoms appeared
  91.         (name, version, configuration)
